Sean Heimpel signed by the Nashua Pride...

Sean Heimpel of the Limeport Bulls was signed on August 20 by the Nashua Pride in the Can Am League...

Gabelsville wins Game 3...

After a tie on Wednesday and a rainout on Thursday, the third attempt at Game 3 saw Chuck Nicholas and Todd Stapleton combine on a 4-hit shutout as Gabelsville beat the Yankees 3-0.

Matt Reppert tossed a 5-hitter and Brandon Parker and Darrin Lenhart both went 2-for-4 to lead the Northern Yankees over Gabelsville 3-1 to even the best-of- series at 1-1...

Gabelsville wins Game 1...

The Gabelsville Owls won their 6th consecutive playoff game as they defeated the Northern Yankees 4-3 in Game 1 of the Finals on Saturday...

Shawn Betz got the win, while Jon Kalejta went 2-for-4 for the Owls...Darrin Lenhart finished 2-for-3 for the Yankees...

Game 2 is Sunday at 4:30 at Gabelsville...

Jared Trout tosses no-no, Gabelsville sweeps Limeport...

Jared Trout tossed a no-hitter in Game 2 of the best-of-5 semifinals as the Owls won 1-0 for the second consecutive day over Limeport to take a 2-0 series lead...Trout, a former Oakland Athletics' farmhand who pitched for the Vancouver Canadians in 2003 and the Kane County Cougars in 2004-05 in the Oakland system, got some great defensive plays from A.J. Bohn and Jon Kalejta to get the no-no...He walked one batter in the game...Scott Stewart was the tough-luck losing pitcher, allowing just 3 hits and striking out 10 for the Bulls...

In Game 3, Zeb Engle completed the sweep for the owls with a 3-0 win, as Limeport became the first team in Trico history to be shut out in all 3 games of a best-of-5 series...For more info on Game 3 and the Owls/Bulls semifinals series, there is a website article here:

Shawn Betz was one strike away from a no-hitter when batting champ Ricky Rivera broke it up with a sharp single to left with two outs in the 7th...Betz also scored the only run of the game in the top of the 7th as the Owls won 1-0 to take a 1-0 series lead in the best-of-5 semifinals vs. Limeport...

Best-of-5 Semifinals to start Saturday...

The Yankees swept Cetronia with wins of 6-1 on Tuesday and 3-2 on Wednesday for their first playoff series win in franchise history...Website article here:

Gabelsville swept ICC, but it took them 3 games to do it, thanks in part to a Herculean effort by League MVP Erik Ruff, who was 3-for-3 with 7 RBI in Game 1, including the game-tying Grand Slam in the top of the 7th to make the score 9-9 which is how it ended on Tuesday...

The Owls then won 12-0 on Wednesday and 7-1 on Thursday to advance to the semis and play at Limeport on Saturday at 7:30 for Game 1...Game 2 is Sunday at Gabelsville at 4:30...

The Yankees will play the Fleetwings on Saturday at Scherersville #1 at 4:30 in game 1...Volpe's then visits the Yankees at Scherersville #5 at 5:00 on Sunday for Game 2...
